In Product Development class, our professor told us to draw our class partner’s face. We started drawing, it was both humiliating and funny to see a bunch of businesspeople trying to do art. We only had 10-15 seconds and sentences like “omg!”, “I am so sorry.”, “I don’t wanna offend you”, and “I swear this is not how you look”, were flying around. After this torturous 15 seconds passed, the professor told us how he heard sorrys through the entire time. He asked: “Would a 5-year-old apologize if he/she drew you?” An awkward silence filled the class, we were drowning in our thoughts. Then he continued: “No they wouldn’t. They’d be proud.” He explained how we limit ourselves thinking we can’t achieve stuff, and how harsh our judgment can be. Whenever we get an idea, we are blocked with negative thoughts and feelings like “that’d never work”, “this can only be a dream”, and “I am not good enough”. It’s time we pass beyond these expectations of society. Do fit in, but save the child in you.
Optimism and pessimism are states of mind, and faiths. If you believe in good, you will want to be good, achieve good, make good. Pessimism won’t be a choice for you. On the contrary, if you think the ideology of good and bad is an illusion, you’ll be lost in the illusion if pessimism, and even if a hint of good appears, you’ll block it away. That’s why pessimism is seen as a toxic condition, a contagious disease.
Law of attraction states that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts people can bring positive or negative experiences into their life. Positivity is seen as a radiant energy flowing from you to yourself and to others. It’s funny how people who always complain get through the worst things and their reactions make those situations harder. Whereas, people who don’t complain and appreciate everything life has to offer, go through good things. Being positive, even in negative situations, rewards with more positive experiences. A positive mind brings positive vibes, and thus, a positive life.
It shouldn’t be extremely hard to try seeing the good in things; acknowledging that the glass is half full, rather than half empty; believing you can reach your goals; and going forward. Because your speed doesn’t matter, forward is forward. Beautiful things happen when you distance yourself from negativity. See negativity as a wall that blocks you from every good thing that’s around you. Imagine all the good things you would have missed if you choose to be a pessimist.
Determined minds should and must be optimistic with a dash of realistic. That’s how I consider myself as. Being realistically optimistic helps understand situations before labelling as good or bad. It helps to not putting too much hope in things that won’t work out, or putting too much because you know it will.
Be the energy you want to attract. Be the friend you want to have. Be a positive in someone’s life. Pretty please, stop being afraid of what could go wrong, focus on what could go right.
Thank you for reading this, and have a good day!
